MICHELLE CARPENTER Obituary

Michelle "Mickey" Carpenter Volunteer Firefighter and Educator Michelle Carpenter, (nee Cantlin) of Middletown, DE, died on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at home. Born in White Plains, NY on April 17, 1943. Daughter of the late William Cantlin, Sr. and Grace Cantlin. She graduated from St. John's High School. Mickey was a Life Member of the Wilmington Manor Fire Company, and the first woman in Delaware to tiller a ladder truck. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, David Carpenter, Sr.; two children, Michelle Bridge and husband, Harry, of Middletown, DE; and David Carpenter, Jr. and wife, Shelly, of Delaware City, DE; sister, Margaret "Peggie" Cantlin-Kern and husband, John, of Arlington, VA; brother, William Cantlin, Jr. and wife, Rosie, of Brazil; sister, Maryellen Cantlin of White Plains, NY; and three grandchildren, Harry Bridge V, Jessica Bridge, and Paul Anthony Carpenter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Cantlin, formerly of Yonkers, NY. Services were held in Delaware on Tuesday, July 1. Contributions may be made to Wilmington Manor Fire Company, PO Box 631, New Castle, DE 19720.
