PAT MAROTTA Obituary

Pat "Mert" Marotta, a life long resident of Yonkers, passed away at home on Saturday, September 23, 2006, after a long battle with diabetes. He was 73. Pat attended Most Holy Trinity Grade School and Roosevelt High School, class of 1951. After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and served honorably during the Korean War. On September 18, 1954, he married Peggy (Beanland) at St. Peter's Church in Yonkers. Pat worked in construction for 32 years as a member of the Laborer's International Union of North America, Local 60, and 13 years as a mechanic with the Yonkers Municipal Housing Authority, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Westchester Korean War Veterans and a member of the American Legion Gilbert Rush Post 1574 in Thornwood, NY. Besides his wife Peggy, Pat is survived by three sons, Patrick (Laura), Robert (Christine), and Thomas Marotta, one daughter, Mrs. Carolanne (Greg) Melia, seven adoring grandchildren, Melissa and Gregory Melia, Patrick, Elana, Michael, Emma and Samantha Marotta, and one brother, Sam. Family will receive friends Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 9:30 AM at St. Ann's Church, Midland Avenune, Yonkers, NY. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
