Portia Davis Obituary
AGE: 51 • Chestnut Ridge, Formerly of Mt. Vernon
Portia Adonna Myers Davis of Chestnut Ridge NY passed away on Thursday September 15, 2016. Portia was born in Mandeville, Jamaica West Indies, to Clifford and Eulahlee Myers. In 1969 the family migrated to the United States, relocating to Mount Vernon, New York. Portia was educated in the Mount Vernon Public School System, where she met her devoted husband of 30 years, Demetrius "DD" Davis. They married and had 3 beautiful children; Dior, Jahmar, and Aria. In 1998 they relocated settling in Chestnut Ridge New York. Several years later they would be blessed with one grandchild, Meena...
Portia was employed by Rockland BOCES as a Crisis Teaching Assistant for 18 years, until the time of her passing. She loved music very much, and her singing reflected her passion. Because of her love of music she dedicated much time to working in various capacities with the East Ramapo Marching Band, even opening her home to students and donating supplies.
Portia was predeceased by three brothers: Tony, Jerry, and Dwight "Heavy D" Myers. She is survived by two brothers, Floyd (Robin, Wife) and Junior, and one sister, Shayler. She is also survived by: one aunt, Kathy Amritt; three uncles, George, Melville and Don Elliott; father and mother in-law Daniel and Elouise Davis; sisters-in-law Delilah and Danielle (Matt, Husband); brothers-in-law Antonio, Lawrence and Daniel; fiancé of Dior (Sita), and fiancé of Jahmar (Karla). She also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, and many, many dear friends.
Family and friends will honor Portia's life on Wednesday September 21, 2016 from 3:00 - 9:00 pm at the Yannantuono Funeral Home. Funeral Service 11:00 am Thursday at Grace Baptist Church, 52 S. 6th Ave, Mt. Vernon, NY 10550.

I simplyove the LIM. I work often and caught up with the shows. I saw Teresa channeling Portia brothers, especially Dwight. Very super special segment. Super sad to have seen that Portia has passed. RIP to them all..

I watched the LIM show and have seen this segment many times as I have taped it, and it still blows my mind that she ached, longed and hurt for her brother Dwight (Heavy D) and is now with him. I think Portias love for him extended far above what anyone one could of imagined. I didnt know Portia but watching her on the show was like knowing her because as she stated her brother was loved by the world, and that gave the world a kinship with her lovely soul. Portia you have been reunited with Heavy D. May God Keep and Bless Your Two Beautiful Spirits.

I was just watching Long Island Medium and was shocked to hear that she had dies as well. I was a fan of Heavy D (her brother) and was shocked to hear of his passing some years ago. But to hear her talk about 3 brothers passing and now to hear she passed last year was really sad. They all passed so young. Rest Well; sisters and brothers.

I really saw me in Portia. Losing a brother is like deleting colour from the world. I can't explain it, but I guess one needs to have experienced it to understand. Just like Portia did, and for that I connected with her. To learn if her passing was bittersweet. Oh what sorrow. The feeling of how a family, a mother could possibly have endure so many "untimely " deaths, was quickly replaced with oh but what if.....and I smiled. One day, we might meet again. We just might. Rest In Peace Portia. Heavy D too, and all dearly departed.

I just watched an episode of Long Island Medium, and saw Portia describe the grief she felt about losing her brother Dewight (sp?) "Heavy D". I didn't know Portia, but I am a fan of Heavy D, and my heart ached as I watched her trying to come to some resolution and find closure. At the end of the episode, there was memorandum to Portia, and my heart broke after seeing that. I just wanted to show my condolences.

Just saw an episode with this dear woman Portia connecting with the spirit of Heavy D, her brother, on The Long Island Medium. Broke my heart to see the episode was dedicated in her memory. However I am grateful she is reunited with him in eternity.

Just watched LIM AND WAS SO SHOCKED at the end of the show (In Memory of Portia Davis) I had never seen her,but when Taresa said she felt her brother was famous I said out loud Heavy D.to this day when I hear his music it reminds me of back in the day. I was so sad of his passing,and now Portia is resting at peace with her brothers,I felt after her reading she still wanted that hug from him.My thoughts and prayers go out to their mom and family.

Omg, I'm in total shock, I just watched LIM from my dvr list and I am shocked to see the passing of this beautiful soul, I grew up dancing to heavy ds music and I was saddened that he had passed and that she was not a peace on this earth because of his death. It's always sad when we lose a loved one, but she is now in a happy place with her 3 brothers, RIP

Watching Long Island Medium I was so exciting to see someone from Rockland County, I cried with Portia during her reading, hoping she found a little peace & would now be able to move on, much to my shock at reading in memory of. I grew up listening to her brother Dwight's (Heavy D) music and still saddened by his passing along with Trouble T-Roy's passing.
