Robert TeCarr Obituary
Robert E. TeCarr, Sr. 94 of Katonah, died on March 21st. He was born on August 21, 1918 to Robert and Mae TeCarr of Tarrytown where he was raised and educated. Mr. TeCarr is survived by his wife of 70 years, Margaret, two sons Robert, Jr. and Kevin, 2 sisters Edna Knight and Doris Lobenstein, 2 grandchildren Rob and Alysson and 5 great - grandchildren.
Mr. TeCarr graduated from Washington Irving High School in Tarrytown and went on to attend Fordham University. He was also a veteran of WW II. He and his wife owned and operated R E TeCarr Sporting Goods for over 40 years.
"Bud" was a fine athlete and avid sports' fan. Bud and his wife were a fixture at the Section 1 Basketball Tournament. The gold basketball presented each year to the division champions was started by Mr. TeCarr. He also started the Robert A. TeCarr award in honor of his father who was a semi-pro pitcher. The award is given to the best pitcher in Section 1.
In 2005, Bud was honored by Section 1 for his many years of service to Section 1 Athletics.
Until the last few weeks, Bud visited his wife in the nursing home where she resides. He never wanted to be far from his beloved Peg.

He was my inspiration, role model and best friend. I will have a piece of him with me forever! I think of him every day. I hope to make him proud!

I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He and his lovely wife, Peg, were two of the nicest people I have ever met. They would usually stop into the Lantern Restaurant (AKA,The Lantern Pub) in Mahopac, were I was a bartender for 20 years. The stop would be for chesseburgers and a drink,(to keep them warm) before attending one of the many sports games at Mahopac High school. They were an inspiration to all who had the opportunity to witness the enduring and endless love and admiration they held for each other. Peg would tell me wonderful stories of baking cookies with her grandchildren and they were always quick with the jokes. The world is indeed a better place for having Bob TeCarr pass through it. I will always cherish my memories of their friendship. My thought and prayers are with the family at this difficult time. Please give Peg my love and good wishes.

Each spring I couldn't wait till my father took me to Tecarr's to get a new bat or glove. Always a smiling face to greet us. Sorry for your loss.
