Haight, Rose Marie

Rose Marie Haight 83 (nee Welsch) died peacefully on July 28, 2016 at the FASNY Firemen's Home in Hudson, New York after a courageous 8-year battle against Advanced Dementia (Alzheimers). Rose Marie was born on Gallagher Street in Buchanan on December 11, 1932 to the late Roscoe Welsch and Mary E. (Donahue) Welsch. She was raised in Buchanan and Montrose along with her late siblings Dorothy M. Welsch and William H. Welsch. Rosemarie graduated from Hendrick Hudson High School in 1950. She was married to Norman E. Haight on November 1, 1951 at the Reformed Church of Cortlandtown. Her ex-husband Norman predeceased her in 2004.

Rose Marie worked at Singer Sewing Machine, Fleischmann's Distillery, Ruby's Infant to Teens, and Copy a Second, all in Peekskill. She also was a School Crossing Guard on South Street for the City of Peekskill, and a long time employee of the Montrose V.A. Hospital retiring in 2008. She was a long term member of the Peekskill Fire Department's Centennial Hose Ladies Auxiliary and loved attending firemen's parades. She cherished the river and could be seen daily sitting at Verplanck's overlook. She enjoyed attending many local softball, volleyball, track and basketball games. She loved music, dancing, gardening, her community, and most of all, her family.

Rose Marie is survived by her daughter Holly M. Haight of Verplanck and her son Norman E. Haight, Jr. of Peekskill as well as many nieces and nephews.
