Dodenhoff, Shirley Blair

Shirley Blair Dodenhoff, 84, of Naples, FL, died January 30 at her home after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born August 6, 1927 in Winnepeg, Manitoba to the late Henry Alexander Blair and Eva Andrews Blair, Shirley married William Dodenhoff, her beloved husband of 54 years, on September 17, 1948. He was a former senior vice-president of the white papers division of International Paper. She resided in Rochester, Scarsdale and Bronxville, NY, as well as Naples, FL, and was a longtime summer resident of Murray Isle in Clayton, NY. Shirley was an avid golfer and had 4 holes-in-one over her lifetime. She also loved duplicate bridge and was a Lifetime Master, playing and teaching bridge at the Naples Bridge Center.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband, William, in 2002, as well as her brother, Henry A. Blair, in 2011. She is survived by her four children, William Dodenhoff of Hollywood, CA, Deborah Purcell of Bedford Corners, NY, Susan (Howie) Charbonneau of Gansevoort, NY, and Robert Dodenhoff of Isle of Palms, SC; her sister, Barbara (Phil) Blair Nangle of Clayton, NC; and her seven grandchildren, Sam Charbonneau of Saratoga Springs, NY, Charles Charbonneau of West Hollywood, CA, and Rachael Charbonneau of Vallejo, CA; Conner, Brett and Alex Dodenhoff of Isle of Palms, SC and Will Dragovic of Bedford Corners, NY.

A memorial service in Shirley's honor will be held on February 12 at 2 PM at Bower Chapel, 120 Moorings Park Drive, Naples. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley's memory to Avow Hospice of Naples or The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
