Walter Moser Obituary

Walter 'Moe' Moser

Suffern, NY (formerly of Norwood, NJ) - Walter 'Moe' Moser, 77, passed away on March 8, 2020 after a brief illness. Raised in Norwood, NJ, he was a long-time resident of Rockland County, owning and operating Rockland County Iron Works for more than 45 years.

As a former Army veteran, avid sailor and motorcyclist, and long-time business owner, he prided himself in having a large circle of friends throughout the county. Moe will always be known for his dry humor, steady disposition, and "open door" policy to friends and neighbors throughout his life. He will be missed by many.

He is survived by sisters Klara Smith and Linda Mentzinger, sister-in-law Grace Moser, and nephews and nieces Bradley Moser, Vicky Polashock, Wendy Player, and Kim and James Mentzinger. He is predeceased by brother Henry Moser, and parents Herman and Anny Moser.

Visiting hours will be held at Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan, NY on Saturday, 4-8pm and Sunday, 4-8pm. A service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10:30am. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org or 800-822-6344)

I discovered just today that Walter passed away over 9 months ago and I am so sad to hear this news, and to not have had the opportunity to pay respects to the man and his family. We have handled "Moe's" insurance for over 20 years and it was a sincere pleasure to know him...he was a good man!! I'm not sure if at this point anyone will even see these words of condolence, but I/we are sending them to his family and friends. I will miss our annual visit and discussions...Rest In Peace, Walter.

I've known mo since I'm 11 or 12 years old when my brother worked for him I later worked for him from 87 to 94 as well at the ironworks. And I worked for him on and off over the years he will be missed by many as well as myself. I tried to visit him a few weeks back with my daughters one of which he is godfather to (kaylee). He was not at the shop that day and am sorry I didn't get to see him. I learned alot from him as a kid as well as his father herman.

Walter was the kindest most generous man that anyone could ever wish to meet. I spent many hours at Moe's shop, and shared some great times riding motorcycles , camping, and fishing with him. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who asked, and always did it with a smile. His wit was contagious, and he was always ready to share a prank or a joke. I will miss him.
