William DiVernieri Obituary

DiVernieri, William "Bill"

William "Bill" DiVernieri, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died on July 23, 2014. He was 96. William was born on October 9, 1917 in Mt. Vernon, NY. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Virginia Ciotti, who died in 2008. He was a salesman with Liebmans in New Rochelle for over 40 years until his retirement. "Uncle Willie" as he was affectionately known had a great love of New Rochelle and a devoted Yankee fan. His warm smile will be missed tremendously.

He was also predeceased by a brother, Alexander DiVernieri and a sister, Enis Fazzino. He is survived by nephews, Raymond, Steven and Paul Ciotti, Joseph Fazzino and nieces, Sally Mohl, Joann Gallello, Emanuella Creaturo, and Virginia Pelliccio. Also many other nieces and nephews.

Visitation at Pelham Funeral Home Friday 5-8 PM. Mass Saturday at St. Joseph's Church 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph's Church, where he served as an usher for many years.

So sorry to hear of Mr. DiVernieri's passing. My late aunt resided in the room next to him at Schaffer and I would stop and speak to him when I visited. We also talked about his brother's children - I grew up in Mt. Vernon and went to school with his nephew, John. He was a very nice and kind man. God bless him - may he rest in peace.
