Ava Lynn Gross Paramo

1964 - 2024

Ava was born on October 26, 1964 at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California to Floyd and Barbara Gross. Her early years were spent traveling to many places in the world with family while her father served in the U.S. Air Force. Ava attended schools in the Republic of China (Taiwan), Mississippi, Panama and California (Vanderberg Middle School & Cabrillo H.S.) excelling in all her studies as an exceptional student.

Ava's first summer-time job was going door to door with her sister, Anne, and selling personalized Christmas greeting cards on Vanderberg AFB.

In her late teens, she started showing signs of mental health issues which affected her for the rest of her life. Ava was married to Rudy Paramo (of Lompoc) in 1995 and had a son, Peter. Ava was a devoted mother who loved to read/write and a gifted gardener. She loved the Lord and enjoyed studying His Word.

Ava will always be remembered for her sweet giving spirit and for being the best Mom she could be to her son, Peter.

Left to cherish her memories are: her son, Peter Paramo (Santa Maria, CA), mother, Barbara Gross (Clovis, CA), sisters, Yasmyne (James) Brewer (Fresno, CA), Anne Gross (Joseph) Ayankoya (El Cerrito, CA), nieces, Evayon Henson, Jamie, Julia & Jennifer Brewer, Josephine and Sade Ayankoya, Ashley Jackson and a host of other relatives and friends. Ava was proceeded in death by her father, Floyd R. Gross (2020) and her brother, York Gross (2010).

A graveside service will be held for Ava on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Lompoc Cemetery at 600 S. C Street in Lompoc, CA. Lunch to follow.

In remembrance of Ava, the family asks that you consider providing a charitable donation to Catholic Charities - For the Food Pantry of Lompoc- at 325 N. Second St., Lompoc, CA 93436 - Tax ID #1690973. The Food Pantry of Lompoc has provided food to many families in need in the Lompoc area.

Mental health issues affect people in all walks of life. It is a health condition that one can acquire at any given time in their life and that in many cases can be effectively treated. Often people with mental health issues are defined by their illness. We need to make an effort as a community to correct this and educate people that this is an illness. They are individuals, like others with illnesses, that may require treatment. Mental health patients need our understanding and support.
