Cheryl Lynne (Alexander) Poye passed away on December 16, 2021 at her home in Viera, Florida, surrounded by her family. Cheryl was born on October 7, 1954 in Fort Eustis, Virginia. An Army brat, Cheryl spent her childhood primarily in Texas and California, graduating in 1972 from Lompoc High School in Lompoc, California. She married husband Derrel Wayne Poye on December 26, 1976 in Lompoc, CA and the two promptly moved to Turkey, where Derrel was stationed in the Air Force. Her love of travel took the two across many parts of the world including Asia, Australia, Europe, and South America. She was a resident of Brevard County, Florida since 1992, where she worked as an interior designer and small business owner. She was preceded in death by her parents Norma Eloise and Donald Dan Alexander. She is survived by her loving family: husband Derrel, daughter Carrie (Zachary) Barnes, son Matthew (Laney) Poye, and four beloved grandchildren (Ella, Madison, Jason, and Adelaide) all of Viera, Florida. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 21 at 6pm at Faith Lutheran Church in Merritt Island. The family requests in lieu of flowers to please make a donation to the Health First Foundation (Hospice).
