Manuel Laranjo Obituary

MANUEL "MANNIE" LARANJO

Manuel "Mannie" Laranjo, our dad, passed away on October 7, 2007, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Dad lived his life with honor, character and unfailing integrity and was adored by all who knew him. He possessed a gentle spirit and keen sense of humor. Some of Dad's greatest joys in life were his many good friends and he valued each and every one of them.
Our Dad was a warm, caring family man and a positive influence on his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was, and always will be, an inspiration to all of us.
Dad was the youngest son of Manuel Laranjo Sr. and Isabel Concepcion Dias; and brother of Bill and Tom. Together the family founded Laranjo Ranch in 1933. Over the years, they successfully grew a variety of crops including lima beans and alfalfa. Dad's earlier childhood years had been spent on the El Capitan Ranch where many life long friendships began.
Dad attended Vista Del Mar grade school, Santa Ynez Valley High School and later, Santa Barbara State College. During WWII he enlisted in the Navy and enjoyed his duty assignment training new recruits. He also loved to fly and became a licensed private pilot.
In 1951 Dad met and married Ann McAllister, the true love of his life. There could be no greater devotion than the love that they shared during the 56 wonderful years of their marriage. They had 4 daughters; Deby, Sandy, & Kristi Laranjo and Susie Laranjo Wells (Husband, Chuck Wells), as well as 5 grandchildren; Donnie, Jessica, Jerry, Jamie and Christopher.
He was a beloved friend, mentor, teacher, grandfather, husband and the greatest dad that anyone could ever have.
We will miss you every day-We love you Dad!
Services will be held at the Mission Santa Ines in Solvang. Friends are warmly invited to join the family for recitation of the Rosary Thursday, October 11 at 7:00 PM and for Funeral Mass, Friday, October 12 at 11:00 AM.

Mannie is one of my most favorite family friends. He and his family have been a very important member of our family friends for so many years. My fondest memories of Mannie are his laughter and love for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by us all. We love you Mannie and our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
