Amy Blackwood Halbert

Amy Blackwood Halbert died peacefully on December 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Amy Blackwood Halbert was born on September 20, 1939, in Chicago, IL. She was the daughter of Thomas Blackwood and Emma Jean Arnt.

Amy graduated from nursing school in Chicago, IL. She retired as a Geriatric Registered Nurse at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Leesburg, VA.

Amy married Edward Halbert on February 21, 1962, celebrating 51 years of marriage prior to his death. They made their home in Hillsboro, VA where they raised their family and many animals.

Amy is survived by her sons, Christopher and wife, Kelly, of Winchester, VA, Andrew and wife, Millie, of Pensacola, FL, Brian Halbert of Rippon, WV and Heidi Halbert of SC. Her grandchildren are Emily Halbert, Kaitlyn Garrison (Kyle), Riley Halbert, Thomas Halbert, Brandon Halbert, Bryson Halbert, and Skyler Halbert. Her great-grandchildren are Hunter and Alaina Garrison.

Amy loved all animals, especially her beloved dog, Abby.

Amy is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Edward and grandson, Gregory Halbert.

Memorial contributions may be made to Best Friends Society partnered with Lynchburg Humane Society, 1211 Old Graves Mill Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502 or Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Suite 405, Winchester, VA 22601.

The family invites all friends and family to join us for a celebration of life and reception to follow at Omps Funeral Home, 1600 Amherst Street, Winchester, VA 22601 on January 11, 2025, starting at 11am. Officiating will be Reverend Kenneth Patrick.
