Floyd D. Blethen

It is with great sadness and fond memories that the family of Floyd D. Blethen, 90, long time resident of Lovettsville, VA, announces his passing in Kulpmont, Pennsylvania on Friday, August 23rd, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Vera, his four children, David, Lesia, Joe, and Irene, 10 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Floyd was born in 1934 in Thorndike, Maine, to George and Annie. He is preceded in death by his stepson, Peter, and his siblings, Burleigh, Basil, Perry, Parker, Edith, Roger, and Stacy . Floyd enjoyed a 38 year career with the Department of Agriculture. A great lover of nature, he enjoyed an active retirement, with involvement in a variety of agricultural pursuits such as the farmer's market, Shiitake mushroom farming, supporting the local 4-H, membership in the Lovettsville Game Club, the American Legion, organizing fishing derbies, and passing on his wisdom and humor to others. We will miss Pop's hearty laughter, his pointing out of birch trees, and his reminder to not point at people, lest you find three fingers pointing back at you. His memorial service will be held Thursday, August 29th at Chowka Funeral Home at 11:30am, 114 North Shamokin, Shamokin, PA 17872. Floyd D Blethen
