Leslie Carroll Ogilvie Jr.

Leslie "Les" Carroll Ogilvie, Jr. passed away peacefully September 18, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and unwavering joy. To know Les was to have your life made brighter and more grounded-his presence was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A lifelong resident of Purcellville, Les was often found tending to the land with skill and pride. Nothing inspired him more than to manicure the thick green grass on his trusty green John Deere mower-that was a bit of heaven for Les. He cultivated the gift of enjoying the outdoor beauty of God's "artwork" - cobalt skies, billowing clouds, and distant mountains.

Les' lifelong challenge with Wilson's disease was overshadowed by his kindness to others, delivering heartfelt smiles wherever he went-from his early days at McDonald's to his time working alongside his father in the family dental practice. He attended Loudon and Herndon HS and was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Les loved his Mom and Dad, their blond Spaniel Sunshine, working 300 piece puzzles, and singing at his church. His passions reflected his generous spirit and his ability to find joy in the simple things.

Les is survived by his devoted friends and longtime caregivers Chris Furr, Otis Loving, Billy Smith Jr, his beloved Aunt Kathryn; and many loving cousins and friends who cherished his gentle spirit and generous heart.

He will be remembered for his infectious smile, his deep compassion, and the simple joys he brought to everyday life. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Hillsboro Cemetery 37125 Charles Town Pike on Sat. October 18th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wilson Disease Association, or simply spend time with someone you love-just as Les would have wanted. Leslie Carroll Ogilvie Jr.
