Robert Longerbeam Obituary
Robert was known best to family and friends as "Pappy".
Pappy worked as a Brick Mason all of his life and was well known for his expertise in this field. If he did any work for you he would leave a current year coin in the mortar as this was his calling card.
He loved to garden which was kept weed free by his children. He also loved to fish and play cards.
Pappy thought he was a great keeper of time. He would time himself on everything he completed. He also measured the passage of waiting or enduring a long delay. Quite the character and taskmaster.
Pappy was a member of Roszell United Methodist Church. He loved his church and the church ladies. He would frequently remind us how much they looked after him.
Pappy is survived by one sister, Gladys Smallwood, two daughters, Kimberling (Sonny) Henshaw, Elizabeth Swadley and three sons Tracy (Valeria), Scott (Lea), Stewart (Teresa). Six Grandchildren, Ben Henshaw, Bradford Longerbeam, Nathan and Mitchell Longerbeam and Edward and Sarah Swadley. Five Great Grandchildren, Laney and Lexi Henshaw, Zayden and Nia Swadley and Abrielle Swadley.
He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Sue, Parents Robert and Sarah and three brothers Leonard, Gilbert and his twin William.
In Lieu of flowers please donate to Roszell United Methodist Church or Loudoun County Area Agency on Aging - Home Delivered Meals Program.
The family would like to express love and gratitude for the care of Pappy to Valeria Tolson Cooper. Valeria has been a blessing to us and words cannot adequately express our deepest gratitude.
Graveside services were held on June 4, 2025 at Ebenezer Cemetery.
