Christopher Ford Obituary
58, of Lexington, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015.
He was born to the late Joseph and Ruby Ford, September 17, 1956, in Louisville, KY. Christopher graduated from Trinity High School in Louisville, KY. He then completed his undergraduate and medical education at the University of Louisville, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 1983 and completing anesthesia residency in 1985. Dr. Ford was a devoted physician. He relentlessly worked to improve the lives of his patients. He first practiced anesthesia in Wichita Falls, TX for 19 years before moving to Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, in 2004. While at Central Baptist, Dr. Ford served as Chief of Anesthesia and earned board competency in perioperative transesophageal echocardiography. More importantly, Chris was a devoted husband, father, and Pops. Chris loved watching his son play sports and listening to his daughter sing. He continuously fostered and supported his children's' academic achievements. Routinely, Chris said that his greatest joy in life was seeing his children happy and successful. Chris and Barbara were active parishioners at the Cathedral of Christ the King.
Chris is survived by his wife, Barbara; sister, Linda (Bill) Gassman; son, Marcus (Kelly) Ford; daughter, Libby (Dave) Yungbluth; grandchild, Ava Yungbluth; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Chris is preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Ford, Jr.; and nephew, Justin Ford.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 21903, Lexington, KY 40522-1903. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at Kerr Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Rd. in Lexington. The funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Cathedral of Christ the King, 299 Colony Blvd., Lexington, KY followed by burial at 11:30 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Chris's hometown, Louisville, KY.

I just learned of Chris's death a few minutes ago while reading the Trinity High School alumni news letter. Chris was my best friend through high school. We had great adventures on his uncle's farm, riding and shooting.
He called me out of the blue last year. It was such a good surprise. We hadn't been in contact for over thirty years.
He was a great friend.

I am so sad to hear of Dr. Ford's death. He was a great anesthesiologist and a very kind and funny person. Worked with him at United regional. Have missed him since he left Texas. Love and prayers to the Ford family.

We are shocked and heart broken at the news of Chris' death. We were friends and neighbors back in Wichita Falls when our boys were the best of friends. We have many happy memories with the Fords. Our son, Ross, adored Chris and learned a lot of jokes, card games and life lessons from him! He was definitely the favorite "other dad" in his life. Our family also knows the horrific pain of suddenly losing someone you love so dearly and deeply. We hurt with you at this difficult time and will be holding you all close in our hearts. Dr. Ford was a great doctor. He would often come and check on his patients after surgery and would help out when ever he could. Always with a smile on his face and kind words from his mouth. Covering his family in prayer.
