I just heard the news and am so sorry for your loss. It's sad when one person must leave us here on this earth, especially one so young and full of life.
I graduated with Dana, and even though we had not spoken since High School - it's still a great loss to us all! Know that prayers are being lifted up to help you through this difficult time.

Ms. Diane,
I am one of Dana's cousins and it saddens me deeply that I never had the pleasure of knowing her. I know she was a beautiful person, who was loved by so many, based on the wonderful things I've heard. I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you daily and God will carry the whole family through this painful time. I love you, God bless you.

I am still in awe about this situation. I look at the last text message you sent me everyday and I will never forget ol' Dana McDonald, aka Dana Dane aka D-Mac. You kept smiles on our faces and giggles in our hearts. I really am going to miss you and your special style of dress! We will continue to keep our SISTAS legacy going! Dana will be truley missed by staff at the Home of the Innocents. I will miss her smile and the joy she brought to staff and residents at the Home. She was a fun loving and caring person which she showed everyday in her care. Our prayers are with you the family. May God give you the strength to get through this day and the days ahead. When I first heard what had happened it was so surreal to me and heartbreaken..you were such a STRONG, BEAUTIFUL and INTELLIGENT woman. I truly admired your skill as a therapist, you set the bar for all of us in class. We wanted to be like Dana.... I will miss seeing you in class, Webster won't be the same. I was devastated when Karol called to tell me about Dana. I just couldn't believe what I was hearing. You know my children and I have been sharing with your family so long we feel like we're a part of the McDonald family. And we are going to miss Dana and her beautiful smile. I was very affected when I heard about the loss of your family member. She was a neighbor of my daughter and it just really hurt to hear of your loss. I remember your daughter now although I really didnt know her, just the knowledge of what she achieved in the short time on earth proves to how beautiful she was. The world needs more women like her and be blessed that even a stranger wanted you to know that your love one was recognized for that.

I only knew Dana in passing by working at Seven Counties Services. I always thought that she was a happy person with a smile on her face for everyone to see. I know she will be missed by many and I pray that God will send his healing to comfort every hurting person. My prayers are with the family and friends of this beautiful woman. I miss you so much and school will never be the same. We always made class fun and you always had something funny to say. My favorite memory of you is our role play in statistics class; we both know we were being picked on but we had a good laugh of the story that we concocted!! To the Dennis Family,
It truley broke me down when I got the call. It brought back the last time I saw her which was Christmas. When she came in with the biggest smile like always. How she was messing with my daughter telling her she looked just like me, and she teased my son about being short. Though we didn't spend time together like other family members I held you close and near. It so sad that another black woman determined, educated,independent, with a succeful future ahead is not here with us anymore and we will never understand why! RIP Dana Lil cuz I miss you Natalie

Diane,
I remember so well when Dana was a few months old and you, Ms. Mary and Mr. Joe came by to visit us. I was a few months away from having Jami. I remember Dana had the most beautiful, expressive eyes - even at such a young age.
My Grandmother always said you could read a person's soul and heart by looking into their eyes. Dana's eyes told of what she'd grow up to be:a beautiful and expressive young woman with compassion for others!
During that visit we shared stories of our crazy cravings and picked names for my baby - you might recall I hadn't picked any girl names! I also remember that it was a visit to your house that we found out Jami could walk because she crawling around on the floor following Tiffany and Dana at first and then stood up and ran - as best she could at 8 1/2 months old!
Although you and I lost touch with one another over the years, Momma and Ms. Mary did talk to each other ever so often - catching up on things and sharing stories about their grandchildren whom they were so proud of.
The last time I saw Dana was in 2006 when she walked across the stage when she and Jami graduated from U of L.
I've heard so many positive things about Dana and I'm not at all surprised since she learned from you what you were taught by Mr. Joe and Ms. Mary!
I know your pain is so deep right now and your days and nights have been darkened by your loss. I pray that you soon find comfort through God, Ms. Mary, Toni, Rhonda, Karol, Anthony and your other family and friends.
I also pray that someday the overwhelming pain you feel will be replaced by memories of Dana and who she was as a daughter, sister, niece, granddaughter, cousin, friend, co-worker, and her career as a therapist and nurse:compassionate, kind, humorous, considerate, intelligent, dedicated, dependable, and loving!
Please know that you and the rest of the family are in my prayers during this most difficult time.

To Dana & Family: I know at this time there's no words of comfort to say that will mend the pain that you're going through but I visted you last night and you said that you truly believe in the Lord and that you know he's the only one that will give you peace and comfort...with that said he will see you through all good and bad times.
