David Yates Obituary

David Allan Yates, Sr.

Shelbyville - David Allan Yates, Sr., 70, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, the 27th day of December, 2020 at his residence. Born in Louisville, he was the son of the late Arthur Eugene Yates, Sr. and Mary Jane Haendiges Yates. An entrepreneur, he founded, owned, and served as the president of the Kentucky Roll Company in Shelbyville, Kentucky. He took great pride in his business and enjoyed working with his two sons. He was a Little League All-Star coach and a supporter of the Shelby County Backpack Project. During his free time, he enjoyed playing golf. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Kathy Yates and Donna Byrd.

His survivors include his wife of over fifty years, Linda Odle Yates of Shelbyville; his sons, David Allan Yates, Jr., of Bagdad, and Daniel Joseph Yates of Shelbyville; his brothers, Arthur Eugene Yates, Jr., of Shelbyville, and Richard Yates of Louisville; and his three granddaughters, Sydney Yates, Hannah Yates, and Camryn Yates, all of Bagdad.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Shelby County Backpack Project, Post Office Box 117, Shelbyville, Kentucky. 40066, or to the American Cancer Society, 1640 Lyndon Farm Court, Suite 104, Louisville, Kentucky 40223. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville, and online condolences may be expressed at www.halltaylorfuneralhomes.com.
