Donald Jones Obituary

JONES, DONALD LEE, 70, entered eternal rest Sunday, November 30, 2008. He was a retired senior chief petty officer from the U.S. Navy having served in the Vietnam War. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard, VA, and was a member of Victory Memorial Baptist Church. Don was a member of Moose Lodge #898 Portsmith VA , American Legion Lodge #229 Iroquois, life time member VFW Post 6182, Louisville, KY, and a member of Male High Alumni Assoc. Class of 1956. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Paul and Elizabeth Shawley Jones. He is survived by his daughters, Robin Lee Jones of High Point, NC and Donna Leann Zullo (Ernest) of Charlotte, NC; his grandson, Joshua Paul Zullo; his sister, Shirley Topmiller; and his loving friend, Janice Oliver. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Pearson's 149 Breckenridge Lane, with burial and military honors in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions are suggested to Victory Memorial Baptist Church or to Christian Appalachian Project P.O. Box 511, Lancaster, KY, 40444.

The loss of Don Jones is a great sorrow to all who knew him. He will be fondly remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his unending generosity, and his infinite love for his daughters, grandson, and son-in-law. I feel very fortunate to have known him. He will be sorely missed.

He was a precious brother --- faithful, endearing, proud of his country. His health struggles have been great, but he remained strong, sweet-spirited and loving.
