Donald Smith Obituary
Don was an active member at Crestwood Baptist Church, and served his community, as an attorney, and his country from 1961-1988 in the U. S. Army. He will be remembered as a fun-loving husband, father, and grandfather He is survived by his beloved spouse of 55 years, Elaine Lakes Smith; a son, Dr. Steven Smith (Jeyvenna); a daughter Deborah Neilan (Edward), and his five grandchildren, Zachary, Harrison, Micah, Hunter Elaine and Elijah.
Funeral service 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Crestwood Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Valley of Rest Cemetery, LaGrange. Visitation will be 3 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood.

How blessed I have been to know the Colonel and Elaine. His smile always lit up a room and he was a great encourager. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Love and blessings to Elaine and the family. He was an exceptional man...full of grace and love.

COL Smith - I was your Adjutant at ARRTC at Fort McCoy and you were my inspiration and mentor. I have always had you in my thoughts as my career advanced to military and then civilian retirement. You death left a huge hole in the world. God Bless You!!!
