Eleanor Mercke Obituary
She was the daughter of the late Charles D. Ross and Ada Lewis Hart Ross. Mrs. Mercke was born in Louisville and later moved to Purcellville, VA in 1963. In 2004, she moved to Lynchburg, VA.
Mrs. Mercke is survived by three sons, Peter Mercke of Kopparberg, Sweden, Michael Mercke (Robin) of Berryville, VA, and Brent Mercke of Leesburg, VA; one daughter, Penny Mercke Barden (Brad) of Lynchburg, VA; a sister, Ada Lewis Keown of Issaquah, WA; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mercke was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Ann Ross; a brother, William Hart Ross; and her husband, Casper Clarence Mercke, Jr.
Mrs. Mercke's interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Louisville.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the Central Virginia Area Agency on Aging, 501 12th Street, Lynchburg, VA 24504.

Mom- you are the rock of our family. Even in your passing you will continue to be the glue that holds us all together because you formed our foundation and what a strong one it is! As we gather in your memory this weekend we will raise our wine glasses and cheetos to you and chuckle at a few "whammies" :) You always said that raising the four of us (alone) was not difficult but that was how you always saw everything - with a positive view and a sense of humor. You are forever in my heart. Love Penny

Gammie was my good neighbor when she first moved to Lynchburg. She bought the house between Penny's and mine. We enjoyed going out to lunch together and some afternoons we'd enjoy a glass of wine together. I was really lonesome for you when you moved to Westminster Canterbury. I

We will miss Gammie with her always cheerful dispositon and her eternal smile. Thanks for being a part of our lives. We will send a contribution to Central Va agency on Aging in her memory.
