Irvin Calloway Obituary

CALLOWAY, IRVIN, 81, US Air Force veteran died Wednesday July 3, 2013 after a brief illness.

Born January 25, 1932 to the late Julius Calloway and Nathalee Calloway, he was a lifelong resident of Louisville and raised in the West End at 3810 Greenwood Ave. Irvin was the youngest of his three siblings, Tuskegee Airmen Col. Julius Calloway II, Professor Alberta (Craggett) and Attorney Van Calloway.

He was the beloved husband of Alyce (Wilson) for 36 years; loving father of seven sons, Gregory, Reggie, Vincent, LeVern (deceased) Kim, Michael and Sean.

Much of Irvin's work life was spent at BF Goodrich where his management and technical skills gained in the Air Force made him a valuable contributor and innovator. After retiring he returned to his entrepreneurial endeavors and founded High Tech Video, which created a variety of video productions including everything from weddings, musical events, celebrity interviews, documentaries and instructional videos. In addition, Irvin produced and moderated several cable talk show programs and appeared on WLOU frequently as a radio talk show host.

A memorial service is being held to honor his many accomplishments and interest on Sunday July 21, 2013 at the Muhammad Ali Center, 144 N. 6th St., Louisville. The service is 3-6 p.m. Arrangements: GC Williams Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials made to the Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation P.O. Box 83395, Los Angeles CA 90045 (310) 215-3985. www.taisf.org

I just found about Irv's death and I feel sad that I was not able to offer an earlier condolence. Irv was a good friend and comrade in the audio field.
We shared many interests including aviation. I will miss you, Irv.

I always called him Mr. Calloway, simply because of the way he handled himself, and he was so very encouraging to all of the musicians/entertainers he ran across. I distinctly remember our last conversation & he said " Billy, keep doing what you're doing " i smiled and said " yessir " Mr. Calloway ... Rest Peacefully & to his Loved Ones " Hang Tough "

To the family, I hadn't known Mr. Calloway long, but the laughs we had will stay with me forever. Each time we talked it was always a learning experience and that's what I'm going to miss the most about him. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I never thought that one of his son's would take the time to introduce me to him, and I am so honored they did, because since over 18 years of us knowing each other, he has been a solid moral human being as well as his lovely wife Mrs. alyce. It has been much joy and pleasure to meet him as well as having laid back conversation and wonderful advice. my heart is heavy, because after 18 years of knowing Mr. Calloway, his wife and 19+ years of his son, I am so grateful to be in his presence as well as part of Mr. Calloway and his wife's life and his son, May GOD surround the family with peace and joy knowing that GOD is an awesome GOD in his own way and not man's. Love and peace from Carrie Johnson and her family
