James Shireman Obituary

CORYDON SHIREMAN, JAMES L., 82, died Sunday, April 19, 2009. He was the founder of James L. Shireman Inc., a member of the Corydon United Methodist Church, the VFW Post 2950, Pisgah Lodge #32 F&AM, Kosair Shriners and the Scottish Rite, Corydon Moose Lodge, American Legion and Sagamore of the Wabash. He was a board member of the Prosser School of Technology, was the Harrison County Republican Chairman from 1964-1974, and a Marine veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred and Wayne Shireman. Survivors include his wife, Mary Wiseman Shireman; his sons, Michael L. Shireman (Rosanne), Mark D. Shireman (Kathy), David L. Shireman and Joseph A. Shireman (Cindy); his daughter, Rebecca S. Eckart (Samuel); his sisters, Anna Lopp and Louise Sanford; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at his church. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at his church. The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to The Shireman Family Scholarship Fund, c/o Harrison County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 279, Corydon, IN, 47112, or his church, 214 Elm St., Corydon, IN 47112.
