To The McAfee Family...
I have never met Jay, but I am a friend of Crystals. I just now saw this tragic story on the news and when I saw Mrs. McAfee speaking on the press conference, my heart just sank. I know that no words could ever comfort you at this time. But I will pray often for your family.
God Bless & comfort you.

It's very hard reading over the many memories from students from Central to friends and relatives about Jay. I too was a student at Central and had the pleasure of meeting Jay my freshman year. Then he was a sophmore. He had this aura about himself that always stuck out. Not shy in the least bit, but more of an observer. It's hard to think about the kind of person he was without my eyes tearing up because he was indeed a promising person with a super promising life. When I think about what has happened to him I try to be strong for the family and myself. Sometimes I want to turn back the hands of time to be there to save him from this tragedy. How can someone be so powerful in a powerless situation I asked myself on numerous occasions, but when I think about it, I don't have any powers, but I do know that GOD has all power in his hands. And it's that hope that springs eternal that I will know that Jay was here for 29 years to spread around the love, joy, peace, and understanding that only a person can inherit from God. So I can't be selfish when God is in control of ALL of our lives, and knowing that Jay is in heaven with both of my brothers that have went on and all of my friends that have went on with GOD, I can finally cry and let the tears fall because I know that the tears represent happy memories and something to look forward to when we all leave this earth. And now I know that this world is not my home, but a temporary place to display the Love, Joy, Peace and Understanding of God to all who do not know him or need to be reminded. So in closing, Jay I'll see you again, where the sun is always shining. I'll see you again where sorrows are no more. Where we'll join hands together and we'll sing around the throne, I can't hardly wait til the day I'll see you again. Til we meet again, God be with you til we meet again. To the McAfee Family: Our prayers are with you during this time of sorrow. Jay was such a wonderful young man. I had just talked to him the week following Easter. (I called myself "Momma T." He would always say "I love you" before hanging up.) He rode down with our son, Charles, last summer when our dog attacked our grandson who had to be hospitalized for 3 days. The Bible says that when we are unable to speak, the Holy Spirit steps in for us. And even though we know this is a road we all must one day travel, the pain is still there. This one thing I know. There is no way Jay could have been as beautiful as he was and not have known the Lord. Now he's singing praises around the Throne of grace, love, and mercy - in the presence of the King of kings! Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!

I knew Jay from back elementary days. I hadnt really seen much of him since. But just happened to see him at a restaurant hours before the incident. I didnt get a chance to speak taken for granted that we may cross paths again. Now I do pray that we cross paths again in heaven with both our Farther.

He was so much fun to be around when we were kids I can only imagine how the people that grew to know him as an adult feel about this lost. I offer my condolences to the his family and friends. May he rest in peace and never be forgotten. For us that are left here on earth Seek,Find,Learn, and Love JESUS cause he is REAL.

To the family of Jay, you have my condolences. the Lord blessed us with Jay for a period of time, but he belonged to Christ, and when he came back for his Angel there was nothing for Jay to do but go. We never know what the Lord has in store for us, but what we should know - treat each day as if it is your last, because we never know when God is going to come to call us home. Jay will truly be missed . I am blessed to have gotten to known him. Jay has begun his journey to be with the Lord. We need to ask ourselves are we ready? Love you Jay and you will always be in my memories. Central High School Class of 1996. I will never forget.

I remember the first time I met Jay at the C. He was a very well liked, funny, easy to get along with kid with braces. Over the years he turned into a very strong willed, mature and determined young man. There was nothing we couldn't talk about and he would give you his opinion whether you liked it or not. Jay cared and loved everyone in his circle whether they were right or wrong, he loved them. Jay had an abundance of family and friends that loved him dearly. He was taken away from us much too soon. He had so much to live for, all of us and himself. Evidently his father needed him more than we did. I can't imagine not being able to see his face or hear his laugh, I just can't. I know we'll all have our memories but sometimes you want more than that. You want that person back. Unfortunately, we can't always have what we want. I guess we'll have to try our best to keep living and remember that we were all blessed to have come across Jay's path. I know I am. To Granny, Mr & Mrs McAfee, Shelonda, Crystal, Jason, Aaron, Simon, Tyson, Michelle, the kids, and anybody that I may have left out, I love you all and so did Jay. God bless him and us. See you on the other side. We love you Jay.
