1942 - 2016

Smith, Jerry Leigh,

age 73, entered into eternal life on Thursday, June 16, 2016 due to complications from Parkinson's disease. Jerry was a devoted husband, father, step-father, granddad, brother-in-law and friend.

He was a 1960 graduate of Southern High School. He was retired but had worked for Draughn's Business College and Krutchmeiers Appliances, then had a long career in the insurance industry as an inspector, branch manager and an account representative.

Jerry was a Christian man and evidenced his faith by how he treated others, both at work and at home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Connie Smith and his infant son Samuel.

Those left to cherish Jerry's memory are his wife, Mary Baer Smith, daughter, Leigh Anne Adams (Troy), stepchildren, Alicia Baer Veech (Jeff), Beth Baer, Nicholas Baer, granddaughters, Kendall and Evan Adams, step-grandchildren, Logan, Jenna, Jacob and Stephanie Murphy (Zack), his former wife of 35 years, Anne Smith and his buddy Ziggy.

A Celebration of Jerry's life will be held on Saturday, June 25th at 11:00 am at Newburg Christian Church, 5225 Poplar Level Road, with a reception immediately following to share memories and time together.
