Joe E. Dawson

Louisville - 80, of Louisville died Tuesday at Baptist Health Louisville.

He was the owner of Joe Dawson & Associates, which was a Medical Equipment Sales Company and was a member of Okolona Church of Christ. He received the first full baseball scholarship from the University of Kentucky. He loved to coach baseball and softball, boating and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Odis Dawson and Verna Lindsey Dawson; and sister, Barbara Krausgill.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carolyn Alexander Dawson; daughters, Julie Marlow (Mike) and Carla Cravens (Paul); four grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and brothers, George and Bruce Dawson.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Embry-Bosse Funeral Home 2723 Preston Hwy. with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society.

I am so sorry , I never realized he passed away, until today, just got out of rehab and staying with my sister for a couple weeks. I am bill Heitkamper ( anita's widow) Joe was a wonderful man he cared deeply for anita and I, he called me in July ( I think) so sorry, I will keep your family in my prayers.

Over the many years I have never seen so many People at a persons viewing as today for Joe E. Dawson - I extend my sympathy to his Family - I am unable to stand long and it was so packed and no place to sit and all areas filled that I signed reagistry and left- The giant turn out speaks for itself regarding how Joe was though of and we enjoyed him being a part of our lives - Roland " Woody " Davis
