John Carbone Obituary

John J. Carbone, Jr.

Louisville - John J. Carbone, Jr. of Louisville, KY and Hillsboro Beach, FL was born on August 4, 1952 in Philadelphia, PA. to the late John and Rose Salvagno Carbone. John was a devoted father, grandfather and husband who cherished his family. John lost his battle with cancer on September 9, 2021. He fought long and hard so he could continue being PopPop to his existing, adoring grandchildren, and meet his two additional "bonus" grandbabies.

John spent many years in the non-profit sector managing special events, chambers of commerce, housing, economic development and city redevelopment. John managed a private investigations firm as well as his own investigations firm. John thoroughly enjoyed teaching government, political science and paralegal studies as a matriculated instructor at various college institutions. He had a passion for politics, history and government and delighted in discussing and debating issues with his friends and comrades in his coffee klatches in Louisville and Florida. He was grateful every day for the time he spent in Florida enjoying his friends, the ocean and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Each Autumn John gleefully and enthusiastically participated in the uproarious multi-generational family fantasy football league. John was an avid crossword fan and could complete the NY Times puzzles, in pen, at record speed and help anyone else with theirs if asked.

John was a graduate of Bishop Newman High School in Philadelphia, Pa., Widener University and Delaware Law School of Widener University.

There was never a day that John did not bring a smile or laugh to someone even during his most difficult times. He was a humorist and occasionally freelanced articles, provided public speaking engagements and amusing radio spots. His unique way of looking at the world puzzled and challenged some but along the way there was always a laugh or a smile.

John is survived by his wife, friend and love of his life of 48 years, Donna Gorbey Carbone, (Louisville, Kentucky and Hillsboro Beach, FL), three sons and three daughters-in-law: John J. Carbone III, ( Hillary), James Carbone, (Katherine), Michael Carbone (Samantha); six grandchildren: Arianna, Rosalyn, Eleanor, Theodore John, Michael Jr., and Lucille; 2 brothers -in -law, Timothy J. Gorbey (Anne Marie), Christopher F.Gorbey, and sister-in-law, Jean Marie Gorbey and so many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins especially, Jane Carbone all of whom he loved dearly.
