Hello

McBrayer Calvert

February 7, 2021

I lost a great friend and will certainly miss him. I always enjoyed his humor and knowledge of Anderson County history and its people. This is certainly a sad time...so much lost.

I have so many cherished memories and am so blessed God chose to place him in my journey in life. This man was such a true servant and left us all with such an example to live by. I told him a long time ago he should write a book to capture all those stories, but no one could tell them like he did. I will certainly miss those priceless moments.

To me john was someone who believed in me and encouraged me I think it was the summer of 1976 when I was welcomed as an a real estate agent to work with john as well as Glenn and Harold Richey Since this was new to me my self confidence in my ability was limited. John helped me by providing encouragement when I needed it. Although I moved on after year or two this was a chapter in my life that I value. I am pleased to say I considered john as a friend and we were always glad to see each other For this I’m truly grateful

John was Anderson County's master storyteller and had an encyclopedic knowledge of the County's people, places and history. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a devoted churchman. As a great people person, John was sought out by many for his wisdom and advice. Exemplifying a warm hospitality, he welcomed strangers and newcomers and maintained strong relationships with his many lifelong friends. Indeed, he was a true friend to our family. We extend our sympathy to Wanda, Tim and Kathy and their families and pray that God's comforting peace and presence will strengthen and sustain them in the days ahead.

John was one of the kindest men I ever knew. Working for him for so many years was a pleasure & a privilege. He was always there to help anyone that needed his help & most of the time they didn’t even know he did.
He was the one who called the Governor to have me appointed to take his place & also the one that talked me into doing it.
I will always remember him as a very special man. And I feel deep sorrow for Wanda, Tim, Kathy & the family. Love all of you.
