June Redmon Obituary

REDMON, June Manning,

88, Heaven gained a beautiful angel this past Monday, September 18th, after June experienced complications caused by a fall. Having been constantly surrounded by family and friends these past few days, she went peacefully while her daughter (and main caregiver) Brenda and Brenda's husband, Russell, were at her side.

June was born in New Albany, Indiana and graduated from New Albany HS in 1947. She became an accomplished pianist and loved to play for anyone who would listen. After high school, she fell in love and married Charlie Redmon. They remained married for 63 years and raised a family of two boys and one girl. June loved to dance and loved to travel. She and Charlie traveled extensively, and she loved to tell stories about their trips. One of her most exciting adventures was talking her way up to the pipe organ at The Mormon Tabernacle in Utah and was actually allowed to play it. June was never shy; she had the wonderful "gift of gab" and never met a stranger.

She thoroughly enjoyed time spent on their houseboat "Cloud Nine" at Rough River, and then later on "Cloud Nine II" at Captains Quarters Marina. She was an office manager at Valley Medical Clinic for numerous years before venturing into real estate, serving as a realtor and office manager/broker for Gibson Pfannenschmidt Realty. Following her real estate career, she and Charlie bought Brownsboro Hardware, and she ran that business for many years. Through it all, she never stopped playing that piano. It was her passion. She was the organist for Briargate Presbyterian Church for over 40 years.

After moving from the south end of Louisville, June became a member at Middletown Christian Church and rarely ever missed a Sunday when the MCC choir was performing. In 2016, she moved to Brookdale Senior Living and started a new chapter of her life. She loved her new friends at Brookdale and enjoyed playing the piano in the common area. They made her feel so welcomed.

June always did it her way, constantly setting a high bar for herself and always achieving her goals. She often told her children, "I'm a tough old bird" and, in fact, she truly was.

She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Redmon, mother Betty Jarchow, father Carl Manning, and sister LaVerne Kron. She is survived by her son Michael (Lynda) Redmon, daughter Brenda (Russell) Broady and son Ron (Cathy) Redmon, grandchildren Toni Redmon Rose, Cynthia Redmon Bell, Jimmy Broady, Ashley Broady Woodruff, Mathew Redmon, Stephen Redmon and 9 great grandchildren Jessi Slade, Abbi Rose, Lyndsey Bell, Mallorey Bell, Shea Broady, Paige Broady, Savannah Woodruff, Max Woodruff and Gabe Redmon. She is also survived by her fiancé Fred Pfannenschmidt who recently had given her a new lease on life. They were scheduled to be married on September 30th.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road, East Louisville with entombment in Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made to Middletown Christian Church, 500 N. Watterson Trail, Louisville, 40243 or Barren Heights Christian Retreat Center, 11420 Watterson Court #800, Louisville 40299 (www.barrenheights.org).

My deepest sympathies go out to you and your family. May God give you the strength, peace and comfort.

June was my dear friend and broker at Gibson Pfannenschmidt when I was a Realtor in Kentucky. I moved to Florida and got my license here as well. I spoke to her after I moved to Florida and got married. What a sweet and precious lady!

I am deeply saddened when I saw she passed. I loved her as a friend. She was the greatest friend and broker anyone could have in their Real Estate career. She will always be missed by everyone who ever knew her.

I would really love to talk to her family sometime.

God Bless

I've known the Redmon family since I was 6 years old. I have great memories of my friends and I walking 2 blocks to the shopping center and getting to know them at the hardware store. I purchased my pager (yes that makes me old) from the hardware store because they were the only place that would sell it to someone under 18. I remember picking it out in the case and visiting the store often until I had saved up enough money to buy it. I am forever grateful to the Redmon's and the hardware store because that is where I met my future husband, Mike.

We ask June to play the piano at our wedding and she was so happy to do so! We went to her house several times to pick songs and decide what order she would play them in. I am forever grateful to the Redmon/Broady families, you have change my life for the better and I thank you so much for that.

June's smile and sweet soft laugh will be missed. She was an angel on earth and I know Charlie will be so happy to have her in his arms again.

Love, Michael & Carrie Birchfield
