Kenneth Albrecht Obituary
Louisville - Kenneth Harold Albrecht,73, of Louisviile, passed away August 9, 2018. He was born to the late Mildred (Weigel) and William J. Albrecht.
Kenneth was passionate about music and a talented French horn player. He played in the Louisville Orchestra for more than 40 years as principal horn. He was a kind, loving man who will be dearly missing by all whom he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Albrecht.
He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 47 years, Connie Karem Albrecht; three children, Matt (Erica) Albrecht, Emily (Kenyatte) Simuel, Charlotte (Katie Murphy) Karem Albrecht; his nephews, Bill, Andrew, Pete, Dave; four grandchildren, Lindsey, Zack, Xavier, Aaliyah; and a very large extended family.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 4700 Lowe Rd., Louisville, KY. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-7 pm at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
Memorial donations in Kenneth's name can be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or The Louisville Orchestra

I did not know Ken personally but as a fellow horn player. His solo work (both horn and singing) on Peter Schickele's "Pentangle" has inspired me since I first played that CD.

Connie, what a shock to hear of Ken's passing. I have known Ken for many years - he did his student teaching with me and I sat next to him in the LO. I will remember him as a very kind and humble man and always with a friendly smile. Do take care of yourself. Sandy and I are still very appreciative of your help in selling our home in Louisville. I knew Kenneth Albrecht only through his music and a favorite recording I listened to repeatedly as a music student. I offer his surviving family my anonymous respect and condolences. The power of his art brought happiness, inspiration, and wonder to countless aspiring horn-players you will never know. Connie, I just heard of Ken's passing this morning from Jack Gilsdorf. Please accept Karen's and my sincerest condolences. He was my best friend and playmate when we grew up as across-the-street neighbors on Goss Avenue in the Germantown neighborhood. He may have preceded us in passing but our fond remembrance of him will remain with us.
