Margot Kipfer Obituary

KIPFER, MARGOT LEVI, 82, of Louisville, passed away Monday, May 25, 2009. She, along with her sister (Honi), parents (Victor and Julie) and grandparents emigrated from Germany to Louisville in 1940. She and her family were Holocaust survivors. She graduated from the University of Louisville in 1948. Bud Kipfer, her husband, preceded her in death in 1995. They enjoyed 33 years of marriage. Both were great supporters of U of L Athletics, Actor's Theatre and local charities. She was a proud U of L Alumni member and supported the Fine Arts College. Margot spent 35 years at General Electric. She retired in 1987 as a manager in Accounts Payable. She is survived by her best friend, Rae Holmes; Bud's children, Sue, Dianne, Joanne and John; and grandchildren, Deborah, Jennifer, Craig, Michelle, Katie and Michael. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Herman Meyer & Son, 1338 Ellison Ave., followed by burial in The Temple Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy are requested to be made to the University of Louisville Library or to the Scholarship Fund.
