My daughter, Megan, and I spent many years on the fifth floor at Kosair Children's Hospital, while my daughter was battling cystic fibrosis. When I learned of Nancy's passing, my heart just broke. I have been thinking so much about her and the one thing that stands out to me is that over all the years I knew her, I never saw her unpleasant, even once. She was always sweet and kind and such a joy to be around. My Megan undoubtedly welcomed her home, as she loved Nancy. I will be praying for every member of this family.

Dan and Jan, my heart is aching for you and your children. I will never understand - and I suppose it is not for me to understand - but why do good people have to struggle through so much pain and grief. Losing Joan Marie - and now Nancy Lynn? You are two of the kindest and gentlest cousins I know. And I cannot fathom the grief you are feeling now.

I know your faith is strong and undoubtedly you have a lot of family and friends to support you. I hope that you can feel God's love through your faith, family and friends in the coming months and years as you continue without your wonderful daughter. Her face reflects kindness - there is no doubt in my mind that Nancy is already with God. Hopefully your two angel daughters will help you through this also.

God Bless - Love and prayers, Rosemary

Nancy was one of the kindest, sweetest people to walk the halls of Kosair. She always welcomed me on the 5th floor where I would get pulled over the many years and assist me in anyway possible. I have such fond memories of Nancy and her warm smile. She was a great nurse who will be sadly missed. I extend my deepest sympathy to her family.

Jan, Dan, Jason, Sarah and Sydney et.al......Mike and my hearts are broken. We loved Nancy like our own. I still see her and Carrie sitting at our dining room table with piles of books/papers studying to become beautiful and wonderful nurses. The two of them graduated from St. Bernard Elementary, then Assumption High School and onto UofL School of Nursing walking as BFF together. And, to this day Nancy & Jason, and, Carrie & Brett remain BFF. Carrie Bodemann and all 'those' AHS girls remain tight to this day and will miss her terrible. God bless Nancy's family in this great void of Nancy's going home to God. Love to all!!! Alice & Mike McCall.

We both ache for what your family is going through. Nancy was a beautiful person, inside and out. May your faith help you make it through this, triumphant. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

We regret the loss of Nancy. Thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Even though, I did not know Nancy, I spent my growing up years at the Mattingly home and knew both Nancy's parents. They are wonderful people, who I've admired. Knowing them and their families, she had to be a beautiful, caring, loving and generous person. May she rest in peace and I'm sure Joan greeted her inside the Pearly Gates. The family will have two Angels to watch over them. God Bless!!!

Many great people worked alongside me on my journey as a pediatrician, a majority of them nurses. I learned more about patient care from my nurses than from my most knowledgeable and distinguished professors of medicine. But no one ever touched my life or helped me better understand why we are all going above and beyond for the little ones we care for, than the pretty, petite, blue-eyed, pony-tailed nurse...Nancy. I could rely on her expert assessment whether I hesitated discharging a patient, or I was needed right away for a patient she was concerned about. We cried together trying to console each other for the one patient we lost despite our best efforts. Her quiet, concerned, compassionate presence during rounds was more powerful and more meaningful than a choir of voices. Nancy is not leaving us. She will be a perpetual presence at the nursing unit, in the patient rooms, in our hearts. Forever.

Oh Nancy, all the memories I have of you walking the halls at Kosair Children's Hospital, smiling. Christmas parties for our unit, laughing as we dressed up for Halloween. Never a harsh word, well maybe under your breath but not there wasn't a laugh afterwards. We will miss you so much.Love Beth
