Peter Ronald

RONALD, PETER, 86, died peacefully on May 23, 2013 after a short illness.

He was born on August 26, 1926 to George W. and Florence Jones Ronald in Duluth, MN. His early years were spent in Duluth and later in Minneapolis, MN, until the family moved to Louisville, KY, in 1942. Upon graduation from Male High School in 1945, Pete enlisted in the US Navy. In the fall of 1946 Pete enrolled at the University of Virginia, where he joined Zeta Psi fraternity and graduated in 1950.

On November 25, 1950, Pete married Mary Locke Boyd and they remained married until Mary's death on January 10, 2003.

After graduation, Pete began his career with the Louisville Gas and Electric Company where he held a number of positions before retiring as a senior executive and member of the Board of Directors in 1989. Also during his career, Pete was President of the Business Development Corp., of KY, was on the Board of the Louisville Community Chest, was President of the Louisville Rehab Center, was a trustee of the Childrens Hospital Foundation and was on the Board of the Louisville County Day School. Pete enjoyed his home on Captiva Island Florida for many years and was involved with the Captiva Island Civic Association and the Erosion Prevention District.

In addition to his parents, and Mary, Pete was preceded in death by an infant sister; and his brother, George W. Ronald.

Pete is survived by his loving wife of six years, Anne H. Moore Ronald; his children, Peter W. Ronald (Annie), Pauline M. Ronald, and Samuel H. Ronald (Gwen); his stepchildren, Rebecca Thompson and Chris Thompson (Natassa); grandchildren, Alex Butler (Robert), Mollie Ronald, Owen Ronald and Sarah Ronald; step-grandchild, Selena Thompson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service will be held. Visitation will be at the home of Sam and Gwen Ronald on Saturday, May 25, 2013 from 4-6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Cerebral Palsy KIDS Center, 982 Eastern Parkway, Louisville, KY, 40217; or to the charity of the donor's choice will be greatly appreciated.
