Rachel Moter Obituary

Rachel Elizabeth Moter

Louisville - Rachel Moter, 44, died Wednesday, March 10, after a courageous battle with diabetes and kidney disease.

She was born June 28, 1976, in Louisville to Polly and Merrill Moter. Survivors include her parents; her beloved daughter, Mira; brother, Cash Moter (Tara); aunt, Cindy Moter; uncle, Jay Lowe (Charlotte); cousin, Jason Cardwell; and nephews, Quinn, Teddy and Fitz Moter.

Rachel loved her career in event planning, which included 18 years with the Freeman Company in Dallas. Her travels and collaborations resulted in many valued friendships across the U.S. Her dream job of becoming a mother became a reality in 2017 with the birth of Mira Grace, to whom she was devoted.

She had an empathetic, open heart and was an advocate for those less fortunate. She served as a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana. She grew up at St. Paul Methodist Church, where she was an active volunteer and a participant in the Boar's Head Festival for many years. In recent years, she worshipped at Hikes Point Christian Church. She graduated from Atherton High School, where she was editor of the yearbook and played on Atherton's first girls' soccer team. She attended Xavier University and University of Louisville.

Contributions in Rachel's memory can be made to Hikes Point Christian Church, 2601 Hikes Lane Louisville, KY 40218 or the National Kidney Foundation.

Funeral service will be 12 noon on Tuesday, March 16, at Pearson's Funeral Home, 149 Breckinridge Lane. Visitation will be Monday, March 15, 3 to 7 pm and Tuesday, 10:30 am to noon. Due to Covid Pandemic, masks and social distancing will be required.

I am so saddened and sorry for your loss. I knew Rachel in high school and we started communicating again after Mira was born - sharing stories of our daughters. She truly made this world a better place and I am thankful for her. I am praying for you.

Dear Polly & Merrill,
No parent should out-live their child. There is no deeper hurt or loss. Just know we are by your side during this most painful time. Also know you are loved by so many, and Rachel is looking down aglow with the love and life she shared with you.
With our love,
Bruce & David
