Robert Conely Obituary

Conely, Robert L.,

After a long struggle with Alzheimer's, God gathered Robert L. "Bob" Conely in his arms and took him to his heavenly home.

Bob will be remembered for his love of children and US veterans as well as for his quick wit, artistic talents, kind heart and gentle spirit.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was preceded in death by his parents Henry L. and Vera; his brother, Tommy; sister, Carolyn; and his first wife of 5 years, Patricia L. Pruett Conely.

Left to cherish and respect his memory are Lois, his wife of 37 years; sons Brandon (Michele) and Brad; grandkids Tanner, Grace, Macy, Addison, Kira, and Evvie; nieces and nephews Amanda (Nick), Tyler, Makena and Zayne; and in-laws Ken and Sherra Woolet, David and Lisa Woolet, Sioux Woolet and Russell Stockton.

Bob cherished the friendships of those he met along his life's journey. During his work and travels as an artist, as an art instructor at Washington County Elementary School, as a goodwill ambassador for the Kentucky Air National Guard, as a member Southeast Christian Church and participant in the Southeast Easter Pageant, from his attendance at Newburg Christian Church, from his hobbies as a WW II reenactor and military modeler, and from the places he lived and made his life, he met and valued so many.

As a family, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Camelot Nursing Home who treated Bob with kindness and compassion during the last year of his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Mission 22 veteran's suicide prevention charity or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I have no clue if you are all still looking into these comments, but Mr. Conley was the one person that made me fall in love with art. I had moved around and traveled so much as a kid; but ended up finding myself in Washington County in his classroom smiling, everyday. He had such a positive impact on me, that I have pursued the idea of becoming a graphic design artist, and I plan on majoring in graphic design next fall at the Kansas City art institute. Thank you so much for everything, I still remember everything about him and the impact that he had on me and so many other people. Most people do not remember childhood memories but it was his class that always drew me back into the memories of his classroom almost 10 years ago. I have lived in kansas now for almost 8 years and still find myself telling stories about him to all my friends and family.

Lois,

Bob was truly blessed to have such a loving, patient, caring and selfless wife, both during the good times and the rough ones. Many people never know the level of love and devotion you consistently showed. Please know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of so many right now - as you have both been for years.

Mr. Conley was my son's favorite teacher. He still has some of his artwork that Mr. Conley gave him and he treasures it, just as now he will cherish hid memory. My deepest condolences for your loss.

OH MY....I cannot express the lump in my throat as I see this news...Rob was such a wonderful artist and friend to the Ky Air National Guard...I can remember many conversations we had during numerous air shows...So kind hearted, generous and in my opinion he was an HONORARY GUARDSMAN! and did so much for us. I am so glad that he enjoyed a relationship with our Lord and Savior and now he will have a new canvas on which to paint and draw and a new heaven from which to paint...RIP my friend....My prayers are for his sweet wife and children and grandchildren for strength and comfort in the days to come....He left an awesome legacy for which you can be proud.

Bobby and I had several classes together at Southern High...he was always drawing and he was an amazing artist. I had a love of the Indy race cars so he drew one for me...he was such a nice guy and had beautiful eyes! I did see him once many years ago when he had a booth at the Saint James Art Fair. My heartfelt condolences to his family.
