April 12, 2021

Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Robert L. Henderson II US Army 1st Lieutenant.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Just wanted to say that "LT" was one of nicest men I ever met. I only had one conversation with him and as a result of that conversation, I think of him often. I ask "LT" how he would feel if he lost someone in his company. His response to me was "What will be - will be." I have come to realize that that is so true and NOTHING I can do will ever change those things. God bless you Lt. Henderson !

I got to know Rob very well from the unit deployment before and after each mission. Some days he would come up and hang out with me during down days just talking about his upcoming trip home for R&R. I got to see Rob off the day the company was moving troops back up north due to the increasing uprising. I got to take a couple of Generals down to meet Robert since he was the convoy commander. I'll never forgetting Rob telling me I'll see you Greydawg after the mission. The next day I got the message in the operations tent that the convoy was under attack. Not long after the initial report, I got the message that Rob was being Medivaced out. That was the longest day of not only getting the news that a friend had passed, but also thinking about the news his wife was going to get soon of the tragic loss in her life. Rob never got to see the birth of his first child and the happiness he would enjoy with his wife. I know Rob was looking to that special day that he never got to enjoy, but I know he looks over them both everyday. I miss you Dawg and hopefully you are at peace.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers today.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Robert, but I am remembering on
this day he gave his all.
He is my hero.

Sincerely,

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

In Remembrance of this Fine Young Soldier, 1st Lt. Robert Henderson, who gave his life for our Country and for Freedom.
A multitude of Thanks to Robert and his family, for his Courage, Dedication and Service.

There will Never Be Enough Ways, to Humbly Thank these Heroes, for their Supreme Sacrifices, my brother among them. Killed in action in Vietnam in 1967.

we have a building from God, a house not made with hands,
eternal in the heavens."

Dear Henderson Family,
I did not know your fallen hero nor do I know you, but I came across his bio and tears came to my eyes as I read it. As an Army wife myself, I know how it feels to send a loved one in the path of harm's way, but I have been lucky, my husband has come home alive and unharmed. I cannot pretend to know your pain, but I wanted to thank you for your sacrafice. His sacrafice. He is a true hero. That he will never will never be able to hold his child, see his child's sweet face, that his child will only know him through stories and pictures~ that breaks my heart. It is little consolation that this child's father will be remembered as a hero, but it is true. This IS a real hero in a world with few heroes...I am thankful for his bravery, his courage, and his gift. Thank you, sweet family, for your soldier, and I am so sorry for your loss. I don't have the words to tell you how sorry I am. Thank you for the man he was, the hero he will always be...

I worked with Robert at Lowe's in Bowling Green in 1995, I remember him as being quiet and a hard worker. I enjoyed working with him because I knew things would get done because he took pride in anything he did. Although I didn't get to know him very well, he certainly made a good impression on me. Many blessings to the family/friends Robert left behind and a special blessing to his child.

I worked with him at Lowes in Bowling Green before I moved to Nashville and on to Moab, UT. He was my supervisor in the garden center. I just happened upon his photo and this web site while searching the web for a photo of Alvaton for a web site I am working on. I am very sorry for the world's loss as well as his family's loss.

Psalm 23

1

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3

He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!

My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

Although I did not know your 1st Lt. Henderson I'd like to extend my thoughts and prayers to his family, friends and community. This past Tuesday we, here in Meade County, laid to rest one of our own: Sgt. James Alexander Sherrill. The first born son of my friend Bea. I have witnessed this enormous pain as you have, but also I have been witness to the wonderful patriotism shown by so many. I am truely PROUD to be an american. I am SO sorry for your loss. God bless you
