Dear Mrs. Honeycutt,
It was with great sadness that I read today of Dr. Honeycutt's passing. I will always cherish the wonderful education I received at SBTS from 1986-89 ... due in large part to his leadership and vision. I also remember fondly the warm greetings you always gave me when we met on campus. Your gift of hospitality made SBTS home for me. I pray God's blessing of peace on you, my gracious friend, in your loss.

Mrs. Honeycutt,
I found out only today of Dr. Honeycutt's death. I remember having dinner in your home in October 1992 and deciding then that SBTS was where I would study, primarily because of the Great Man that I believe your husband to be. Thank you for sharing him with seminary students like me. His legacy will live on in the preaching of all of us who knew his heart. God bless you and your family members.

Dr. Honeycutt made the Old Testament come alive to ever so many. His love, passion, and scholarship in Old Testament Studies spilled over into our lives. For this I am ever grateful!
May God's great peace comfort you and your family during these days and in the days which follow.

Mrs. Honeycutt, I am sorry for your and our loss and wish I could restore Brother Roy to you "in the midst of his days," as Psalm 102 has it. I was professor of history in the UofL, then Director of Graduate Studies at Louisville Presbyterian Seminary, then pastor of Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church, Louisville. I visited with Dr. Honeycutt early in his presidency to try and help with a problem between Southern and the United Methodist General Board of Higher Education and Ministry. His openness made it possible for the situation to be worked out so that UM students could continue to study with the world class faculty Southern had in the 1960s - early 1990s. I miss that so much at Southern now.
We are with family in NC for Christmas or I would have attended his service out of deep respect for his and your ministry.
We do not grieve as those who have no hope, do we? Please know that I care about what you are feeling.
For Christ and the Church,
Charles Brockwell

Dear Mrs. Honeycutt,
We have such warm and happy memories of Roy and you together, especially during our furlough, 1981-82, the year when he became President of our beloved Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
You both did everything possible to make us feel so welcome as Visiting Professor of Missions.
We are praying for you now and in the days to come.

I was in Dr. Honeycutt's first graduating class in May 1982. I was set to be in his last which was scheduled for December 1993. Unfortunately his retirement was moved and I wasn't in his last class. Fortunately, however, he was on the platform that December day in 1993 to shake hands with the graduates. It was a sweet moment for me. He was a faithful and gracious servant of the Lord. The family is in my prayers.

I have fond memories of times Dr and Mrs. Honeycutt would be out walking and stop to speak with
students. His faith in God and leadership will always be a part

Southern Seminary, during the early years of Roy's administration, was a place of healing and hope for a denomination in conflict. We are personally grateful for Roy's compassionate leadership and June's gracious hospitality during our years at Southern, 1984-1994.

June, Mary Ann, Roy Lee:
Candy, Stephanie and I send our love and prayers to you in this difficult time. Roy was a great friend and mentor to us and we loved him very much. Stephanie has the certificate he signed when she worked as a volunteer at the health center and he presented to her when we left Louisville. It is on the wall of her room. His encouragement shaped my work as a professor in ways I can never repay.
love, Bill Leonard
