Sylvester Buckel Obituary
Many thanks to the staff of the Good Samaritan Center for their kindness and compassion.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Lillian Sorrell Buckel; brothers, Henry (Bud) and Bernard (Boots) Buckel; and stepson, Alan Leras.
He is survived by his sons, Bill (Mary) and Louis (Patricia) Buckel; his niece, Sandra Callahan; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with many good and faithful friends and neighbors.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 760 Eastern Parkway with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Embry-Bosse Funeral Home 2723 Preston Highway Memorial gifts may be made Mass of the Air or Little Sisters of the Poor.

Many years ago my youngest son was a paperboy in Audubon Park. Syl Buckel's house was on his route and Syl often talked to him as he delivered a morning paper. One day my son told me "If anybody;s going to heaven Mr. Buckel's going to heaven." Mr. Buckel impressed many peope through the years with his kind manner and beaming smile. My uncle knew him in the early years and I was fortunate in knowing him in the later times.To all of us he was a remarkable gentleman.My son was so right. Today Mr. Buckel paints with angels.
