William Cofer Obituary

Cofer, William Boyd,

October 1, 1955, Louisville, KY - October 1, 2014 Albuquerque, NM.

Died peacefully on his 59th birthday in the U of NM Hospital from a ruptured aneurysm.

Beloved child of the late Dr. John Wesley Cofer and Camilla Bruce Taylor Cofer, brother of the late John Wesley Cofer, Jr. Survived by sister, Camilla Cofer Jones and her husband, the Rev. Dr. Gregory Knox Jones of Wilmington, DE, nephew Les Russell, Potomac MD, niece Grandison Burnside, Richmond VA, niece Alex Medlock, Tulsa OK., six great nephews and nieces, and cousins Joe Besendorf, Louisville, Chris Stewart, Chicago, Jennie Carrigan, Lexington, and friend Bonnie Coffield, Louisville.

Education: Trinity High School, Waggener High School, University of Kentucky.

Boyd thrived on the independent spirit of the West and lived most of his life in California, Arizona, and New Mexico. He had parts in several films, loved to care for animals, hike in mountains, enjoy philosophy, sports and music, and volunteer at a homeless shelter. His family will remember his generosity when he had so little, his humbleness, courage in times of danger, bravery enduring countless illnesses and challenges.

Family and friends will gather on Tues., Dec. 2, 11 am, Cave Hill Cemetery (Broadway gate.) Boyd will be laid to rest in God's care at a graveside service and his life will be celebrated at a luncheon to follow.

It has been many years but I lived across the street from the Cofer family. I was much younger but Boyd was always kind to me as a child and he had a wonderful smile. My sympathies go to his sister and family.
