December 11, 2013

I remember, it was my junior year of high school and as many athletes can relate, I hit a block and began to feel scared to jump over the bar. That was when my track coach put me in touch with Bill. Out of the kindness of his heart he worked with me one on one, twice a week, for months. He pushed me and taught me things that I will never forget. He was fun and I never doubted that he didn't care. He gave me the confidence to overcome my doubts. He attended many of my track meets just because I needed him on the side-lines to calm my nerves. Although I no longer jump, I will hold these memories dear to my heart. My deepest sympathies go to his friends and families. He was a great man and a brilliant coach. I am positive that his teachings will live on through the lives that he has touched.
Sincerely,
Sarah Bright (Goodman) Butler High School Track & Field
