This is your cousin Otis, but you always called me Kicker. Well buddy, you had a great life and career and now you have laid down to rest. You were the best, because God gave you a talent to serve the people of the world, and you did that. Your work is done down here on this old earth and now you have moved up to a better place. I remember when you worked in the cotton fields in (Billees) in Prattville, AL, and singing thoses old gospel songs with your Granddaddy (Rev. Jackson). I always wanted to sing like you. I did my share with what the Lord gave me. Thanks for all you have done for me.You will be missed, but you are in a better place, where you will see many faces you have known all your life. Remember you (Wilson Pickett) were the best.

Love

WILSON WAS MY MUSICAL IDOL. HE WAS SUCH A RAW TALENT WHO DELIVERED HIS SOULFUL MESSAGE FROM THE DEPTH OF HIS HEART AND SOUL. I'M JUST GRATEFUL TO HAVE SANG AND PLAYED HIS MUSIC THROUGHOUT MY OWN MUSICAL CAREER. AND I WILL CONTINUE TO SPREAD HIS MESSAGE THROUGH SONG AND POETRY. HEAVEN REJOICES UPON HIS ENTRY TO SHARE ETERNITY WITH ALL OF THE OTHER SOUL ICONS WHO'VE GONE ON BEFORE HIM.

To the Pickett Family - I extend my deepest sympathy to you all. I woke up about 4:00 a.m. on the same day that Wilson Pickett died. He was in an airport in New York City doing an interview on a "Special" that included Rufus & Carla Thomas. I got a warm feeling from seeing him and all I could think about was "Mustang Sally" as a young lady growing up in Selma, Alabama. The "JETS" loved him then and always have. May God Be With You All. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss.

I grew up listening to Wilson's music, as my father was a huge fan! I lost him 14 years ago, but every time I hear one of Wilson's songs, he brings my father back to me.

Hopefully, his music can do the same for all of you. He touched so many lives, in ways I am sure he never even thought of.

May God Bless and Keep You All,

When you grow up listening to and loving the music of Wilson Pickett, losing him is like losing an old friend. I learned to dance (although not very well!) to In The Midnight Hour. I am proud that his final resting place is in my hometown. God love you and keep you, old friend, and may his peace embrace your family and friends.
