Alfred Girard Obituary

He was born in Quincy, Mass., on Feb. 5, 1937, son of Alfred N. and Marguerite (DiBona) Girard. He received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnical Institute and a master's degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University. He resided in Amherst for the past two decades.

Mr. Girard served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961.

For six years, he was a professor of information technology at Southern New Hampshire University in Hooksett. He previously worked for 25 years at Raytheon in Bedford, Mass.

Besides his wife, survivors include seven children, Michael A. Girard of Apopka, Fla., Mark S. Girard of Haltom City, Texas, Deborah A. Girard of York, S.C., David T. Girard of Chelmsford, Ruth A. Mulvey of Merrimack, Elizabeth T. Girard of Manchester and Jennifer H. Girard of Concord; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stephen P. Girard of Quincy, Mass. and Robert M. Girard of Hudson, N.H.; two sisters, Maryann Blair of Hingham, Mass, and Marguerite M. Saker, residing in Florida. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
