LOUISVILLE, Kentucky -- Sister Alice Marita Kern, SCN, 89, a native of Bellevue, KY, died at Nazareth Home, Louisville, KY, on June 29, 2013. She had been a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 69 years.

Sister served in elementary education as both teacher and principal in both Kentucky and Massachusetts for 37 years. In Massachusetts, Sister served at St. Margaret School in Lowell, MA as teacher of Grade 4 from 1957-61; as principal of St. Anne School, Readville, MA from 1965-68; again at St. Margaret School, Lowell, from 1969-80 as teacher of Math, Music and Religion in Grade 8; and finally as Secretary, Asst. Principal and Office Manager at St. Margaret School, Lowell, from 1980-1988.

KERN -- The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Vincent Church, Nazareth, KY, with burial in Nazareth Cemetery, Nazareth. There will be a Memorial Mass offered for Sister Alice Marita in St. Margaret Church on Stevens Street in Lowell, MA on July 25, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. Funeral Arrangements were handled by Ratterman Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY.
