Anthony Ruggiero Obituary

LANCASTER -- Anthony J. Ruggiero, 76, a former Concord resident and business owner who was a Korean War veteran, died yesterday, July 26, at his home. He was the husband of Susan (Fletcher) Ruggiero, who died in 1996.

He was born a in Concord on May 5, 1929, the son of the late Vincenzo and Carmela (Viscariello) Ruggiero. He was educated in Concord and lived there until his move to Lancaster in 1999.

During the Korean War, Mr. Ruggiero served as a sergeant in the U. S. Marine Corps.

In the late 1970s, Mr. Ruggiero became the owner and operator of Patriot Floor and Tile Co. in Concord, and retired in 1989. For many years, he was also a heavy-equipment operator for E.A. Comeau Construction Co. in Concord. He also worked for Lexington Sand and Gravel Co. He later was a carpenter for the union.

He enjoyed fishing and was an avid collector of toy trains.

He is survived by a son, A.J. Ruggiero Jr. of Acton; two daughters, Lisa Ruggiero of Marlboro and Susan Ruggiero of Lancaster; two grandsons, Andrew and Robert Ruggiero, both of Acton; a sister, Carolyn Patterson of Acton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of the late Samuel Ruggiero, John Ruggiero and Lena McElwain.
