Bernard Riberdy Obituary

Germantown, TN

Bernard Joseph Riberdy passed into the hands of our Lord on October 22, 2023 in Germantown Tennessee surrounded by his loving family at 99 years of age. Bernie was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on September 11, 1924, son of the late Lena (Patenaude)and Zephir Riberdy. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Rita (O'Hara) Riberdy with whom he shared 71 years. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Margeurite Connors, Rita St. Onge, Pauline Fleury, and Alice Mombleau.

Raised in Lowell and Dracut Massachusetts, Bernie was a graduate of Dracut High School. He voluntarily joined the Naval Marines during World War II. Serving his country in such infamous places as Guadalcanal and Peleliu in the South Pacific, Bernie heroically provided aid and comfort to countless wounded servicemen as a corpsman (Medic).

Bernie is survived by his three beloved children, Maureen Wallace of Tyngsboro, MA; Bernard Riberdy, Jr. of Silverthorne, CO; and Janice Riberdy of Germantown, TN. He has six grandchildren, Nicole Canavan, Nathan Wallace, Emily Persons, Avey Riberdy, Josie Riberdy, and Alena Riberdy. He has 4 great grandchildren, Gwen Canavan, Caroline Wallace, Isla Wallace, and David Wallace as well as many nieces and nephews. After raising his family in Dracut and Pepperell, Bernie and Rita retired to Westford, MA, then moved to Fort Myers FL and later to Germantown Plantation Senior Community in Germantown, TN.

Private services (details forthcoming) will be held in Tennessee, Massachusetts, Colorado and Florida so that his many loving relatives and friends can celebrate his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Bernie's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (see link below).
