TEWKSBURY -- Charles A. Zimmer, age 89, a resident of Tewksbury for 59 years, passed away peacefully at home, on Friday, May 11, 2012, with his family by his side.

He was the beloved husband of Eileen M. (Trojak) Zimmer, with whom he celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on April 28, 2012.

Born in Boston on September 2, 1922, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Maud (Cahill) Zimmer. Charlie was raised in East Boston, attended East Boston schools and graduated from East Boston High School.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 35 years, as a Welder by the Boston Naval Shipyard. Following retirement, he worked as a Driver for the former Blanchard Bus Company of Tewksbury (Tewksbury Transit).

Mr. Zimmer enjoyed dining out with his wife on Saturday night for his favorite baked scallop dinner, attending dances held at the Tewksbury Senior Center, putting around his yard and tinkering in his workshop, and in earlier years, he and his wife enjoyed roller skating.

Charlie was a former member of the Tewksbury Lions Club.

Lodi, Ralph & Family,
There are no words to truly comfort you all at this time this we know but hold on to your "lifetime" of memories made over the years, take comfort in what we are to believe, when we leave our place on earth, we enter into eternity, once again amongst our friends and family who left before us, a place of peace, a place where now we become an agel with wings looking over our loved ones who have yet to make the journey of the departed.
Hold on to each other, remember the good times because it's all your memories that will live in your hearts 4-evermore.
Love, Lisa, Rick & Christopher Hamel
