Chester J. Kalish lifelong Lowell resident, USPS retiree, vet; 85 LOWELL Chester J. Kalish, 85, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died Friday, August 15th, at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Eva A. (Breton) Kalish to whom he was married for 54 years. He was born in Lowell on May 6, 1923, and was the son of the late John and Katharine (Twarog) Kalisz. He received his education in Lowell schools and graduated with honors from Lowell High School, class of 1943. An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during World War II, as member of the United States Army. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Kalish was employed for many years as a letter carrier by the United States Postal Service in Lowell. In his free time, he enjoyed watching sports, especially the Boston Red Sox. He was a member of St. Casimir Church in Lowell. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Michael Kalisz and his wife, Catherine of Belaire, MD, John Kalish of Bedford, NH, Chester Kalish Jr. and his wife, Sherry of Merrimack, NH, and Brian Kalish of Lowell; six grandchildren Courtney Kalisz, Chase Kalisz, Connor Kalisz, and Cassidy Kalisz, all of Belaire, MD, Kevin Kalish of Boston, and Matthew Kalish of Marlboro; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Wanda Gallant. KALISH Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT, on TODAY from 4 until 8 P.M. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:30 A.M. followed by his Funeral Service at 12:30 P.M. at St. Casimir Church in Lowell. Interment in St. Casimir Cemetery in Pelham, NH.
