He was born in Winchester, June 2, 1961, the beloved son of Brenda L. (Shrier) Carr of Wilmington, and Daniel MacKinnon Sr. of Florida and New Hampshire. He graduated from Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in Billerica in 1979.
Mr. MacKinnon was self-employed as an electrician.
He enjoyed riding dirt bikes, snowmobiles and motorcycles. He loved children and loved to spend time taking his kids to the fair or enjoying time with his nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his children, Janelle MacKinnon, residing in New Hampshire, Heather, Ryan and Taylor MacKinnon of Andover; his brothers and sister, John MacKinnon and his wife, Shirley, of Troy, N.H., Cheryl Ann Donahue and her husband, Mike, of Lowell, and Mark MacKinnon of Wilmington; his stepfather, Roy Carr of Wilmington; his stepmother, Nancy MacKinnon of Florida and New Hampshire; his nieces and nephews, Matt and Jake MacKinnon, Kristy and Tanya Donohue; a great-uncle of Christian.
He is also survived by his girlfriend, Debbie Michaud of Bedford; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves his former wife, Pamela (Kenson) MacKinnon of Andover.
