NASHUA, NH -- Daniel Joseph O'Leary, 86, of Nashua, and formerly of Chelmsford, MA, died early Tuesday morning, December 21, 2010, after a period of declining health.

A son of the late Daniel F. and Agnes (Connor) O'Leary, he was born in Malden, MA on October 7, 1924. Educated in Malden schools, Mr. O'Leary was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater and participated in the Normandy Invasion. After his honorable discharge in 1946, he joined the Army National Guard, where he achieved the rank of Captain before retiring in 1967.

On October 6, 1945, Dan married Florence C. Bell and they made their home in Malden, MA and Chelmsford, MA for many years before moving to Nashua, NH in 1985.

Mr. O'Leary had been employed with General Electric Wire & Cable in Lowell for many years where he served as President of the UE Local #297.

Dan loved people and was known for his bear hug greetings. He was generous in his compliments and sparing in his judgments. In addition to his parents, Dan was predeceased by a son, Kevin O'Leary of Massachusetts; and three sisters, Agnes Varney of California, Katherine Faulkner of Florida, and Marjorie DeMarco of Massachusetts.

O'LEARY -- There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John Neumann Church, Route 101-A in South Merrimack, NH, Monday, December 27th at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited to gather at the church.
