Evangeline (Petralis) Laganas, 85, formerly of Lowell, died Saturday, January 7th, at the Hellenic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Canton, MA.

Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, November 11, 1926, the daughter of the late Nicholas and the late Demetria (Sabanty) Petralis, she attended Lynn schools and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. She then went on to graduate from Endicott College in Beverly, MA with a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design and went to attend Rivier College in Nashua, NH.

Before retiring, Mrs. Laganas was employed as a Substitute Teacher with the Lowell School System. Previously, she was a Medical Secretary for Dr. Edward Southwick in Lowell.

However, Mrs. Laganas's true passion was designing and making custom wedding gowns, a talent she continued throughout her life.

She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Brody and her husband, Robert of Weston, MA; two sons, Nicholas J. Laganas and his wife, Karen of Dracut, MA, and George J. Laganas of Lowell; and eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Jared, Jennifer, Kelsey, Alec, Zachary, Scott, and William.

She was also the wife of the late John G. Laganas, mother of the late Scott Laganas, and the late Debra Dion, and grandmother of the late Benjamin Brody, and the late Crystal Laganas.

LAGANAS -- In Canton, MA, January 7, 2012, at the Hellenic Nursing & Rehab, Evangeline (Petralis) Laganas, formerly of Lowell. Friends may call at the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher in Lowell from 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday. Her Funeral will take place from the Funeral Home Friday morning at 10 o'clock followed by a Funeral Service at the HELLENIC ORTHODOX CHURCH of the HOLY TRINITY in Lowell at 11 o'clock.
